Nemeth Law’s Raising the Bar series continues on January 24 with 2018 Labor and Employment Law Update

| Detroit, Michigan

Raising the Bar, an educational series raising employer awareness of current issues in employment and labor law and offered by Detroit-based Nemeth Law, P.C., returns on Wednesday, January 24 with the 2018 Labor and Employment Law Update.

“The beginning of a new year provides the perfect opportunity to take stock of where we've been as well as where we're going from a labor and employment perspective,” Terry Bonnette, a Nemeth Law partner, said. “With the new administration taking office in 2017, many employers found the past year a ‘wait and see’ when it came to developments in labor and employment law. With 2018 here, it is becoming clearer that changes can be expected.”

At the January 24 session, Nemeth Law attorneys will discuss a variety of labor and employment law topics, including:

  • Changing perspectives on sexual harassment - is your workplace ready?
  • Recent directives issued by the NLRB's new General Counsel regarding joint employment relationships, common handbook provisions, use of company email and messaging systems, and social media policies - do they signal relief for employers?
  • Reasonable Accommodation - when is a medical leave of absence no longer reasonable?
  • Sexual orientation discrimination under Title VII - are protections for LGBT employees expanding or contracting?
  • Arbitration agreements - will class action waivers survive Supreme Court scrutiny?

Raising the Bar will be held on Wednesday, January 24, at the Management Education Center, 811 West Square Lake Road, Troy, 48098. Continental breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. The program begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 11:45 p.m. with one 15-minute break. The cost of the event is $75 per person and pre-registration is requested. To register, e-mail Pamela Perkowski at pperkowski@nemethlawpc.com or call 313.567.5921.
